You and your buddy both fucked up and now you’re barely walking while she’s bleeding out. You get separated from the friendly Vortigaunt carrying her to safety, ending up in a cave system that would be gorgeous if not for the infestation of gigantic, mutant bugs. It’s been a rough day already, and when you finally reach the rendezvous point and feel it’s safe to breathe… All hell breaks loose. The bugs are pissed, have amassed a small army, and are charging through the tunnels into your base camp. In stony silence you and your two human allies cut down row by row, waiting for the Vort cavalry to arrive and just when you think you’re about to get overwhelmed, they do. Suddenly your censors report a huge waves in all tunnels and this piece starts fading in, with the bass kicking in just as the first rows of bugs emerge. Anyone playing the series from the first game probably never thought they’d be so happy to see the green glow of a Vort’s beam attack, but as you and your new allies cut down an army well into the hundreds, it’s the sweetest sight in the world. This is bar none one of my favorite moments in any game, period.
